CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Vikings remain in first with one day remaining at the 2024 Magnus Cup. The Vikings have 1,099.5 points, St. Bonaventure in second with 803 points and Youngstown State in third with 726 points.
James Wolf was the runner-up in 3M diving after scoring 287.95 points while
Xander Austin placed fourth with 281.40 points and
Liam Pearson was ninth with 223.30 points.
Cleveland State began the evening with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as
Paddy Johnston,
Tyler Schultze,
Daniel Lyngaas, and
Josh Merchbaker finished in 1:28.59.
Jackson Nester won the 400-yard IM with a new meet record time of 3:47.93.
Brock Wallace placed tenth after clocking a 4:05.37 and
Vittorio Cappabianca was 15th with a time of 4:08.57.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Johnston finished as the runner-up after touching in 47.82. Lyngaas came in eighth with a time of 48.94.
Nate Steiner was the runner-up in the B-race with a time of 49.65 and Merchbaker was 19th with a time of 50.41.
The 200-yard freestyle went to
Connor Green with a time of 1:38.00. The Vikings then went six through eighth with
Cameron Craft (1:40.36), Lyngaas (1:40.61), and
Noah Greer (1:41.01).
Schultze claimed the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching in 54.21.
Alex Cucu placed fourth with a time of 54.64 and
Joe Parkhurst was eighth with a time of 55.67. Ahmad Abalhak won the B-final with a time of 55.47.
Aidan Florio (56.14) came in 13th and
Nathan Dunhac (56.97) was 18th.
Johnston claimed the 100-yard backstroke after clocking a 47.93. Tombul (49.76) came in fifth, Merchbaker (49.99) a spot back, and Greer (50.15) in eighth.
Cleveland State capped off night two with a win in the 800-yard freestyle relay as Nester, Johnston, Craft, and Green finished in 6:39.32.
