CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State is fourth with 193 points after day one of the 2024 Magnus Cup. Akron leads with 507 points, Tulane is second with 401 points, and Xavier is third with 198.5 points.
The Vikings placed sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with
Grace Chelf,
Haley Palmer,
Audrey Butcher, and
Ana Sofia Sousa clocking a 1:33.38.
In the 50-yard breaststroke,
Ella Ciez (30.21) came in 14th,
Alaina Brown (30.41) in 16th, and
Kaelah Baccus (30.48) was 19th.
The 500-yard freestyle saw
Isabella Caraballo place 15th with a 5:01.21 and
Madison Taker a spot behind with a 5:03.56.
In the 200-yard IM,
Giovanna Cappabianca swam the second fastest time in program history, 2:01.46, placing her third in the race. In prelims, she clocked a 2:02.87 which was the third fastest.
Gra. Chelf took fifth in the 50-yard free after touching in 23.07 while Sousa was ninth with a time of 23.57. Palmer was the runner-up in the B-final, sprinting to a time of 23.90 and Butcher was 19th with a 24.29.
Ellie Seiter placed tenth in 3M diving with a score of 238.30.
Cleveland State capped off night one with a sixth-place finish in the 400-yard medley relay as
Eva Smith, Cappabianca, Butcher, and Sousa finished n 3:45.94.
