CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State leads after the first night with 569.5 points. St. Bonaventure is second with 349 points and Youngstown State is third with 331.5 points.
The Vikings started the evening with a Magnus Cup record in the 200-yard freestyle as
Paddy Johnston,
Joe Parkhurst,
Josh Merchbaker, and
Daniel Lyngaas finished in 1:20.24.
Tyler Schultze was victorious in the 50-yard breaststroke after touching in 25.03.
Alex Cucu tied for second with a 20.50, and
Aidan Florio was sixth with a 25.75.
Nate Steiner,
Michael Cucu, and Dougie Tombul came in eighth through tenth.
Joe Parkhurst won the B-final of the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 25.40 and
Ahmad Abdalhak was right behind with a 25.83. Merchbaker came in 14th after finishing in 25.91.
In the 500-yard freestyle,
Connor Green (4:33.71) placed fifth,
Brock Wallace (4:34.77) seventh, and
Daniel Lyngaas (4:36.70) eighth.
Noah Greer rounded it out in 16th after finishing in 4:42.14.
Jackson Nester claimed the top spot in the 200-yard IM after putting up a time of 1:47.46. Schultze (1:50.28) placed fourth,
Aidan Florio (1:51.04) sixth, and Abdalhak (1:52.19) eighth. Wallace was 14th with a time of 1:53.16.
Johnston won the 50-yard freestyle after sprinting to a time of 20.12. Lyngaas and Merchbaker tied for sixth with a 20.66 and Parkhurst was ninth with a 20.74. Craft was third in the B-final with a 20.74. Tombul (20.93) placed 16th and Green (20.99) followed behind.
Xander Austin won 1M diving with a score of 293.00.
James Wolf (239.10) placed seventh and
Liam Pearson (231.20) was eighth.
The Vikings capped off the night with a runner-up finish in the 400-yard medley as Tombul, Schultze, Lyngaas, and Johnston finished in 3:14.37.
