Cleveland State Women's Tennis Comes Up Short At Cincinnati, 4-3

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team continued its 2023 spring campaign Friday evening, coming up just short in a 4-3 decision at Cincinnati.

Despite dropping the early doubles point, Cleveland State's No. 2 team of Filippa Frogner and Selma Tounsi was able to pick up 6-3 victory, with the duo improving to 6-3 this spring.

Cincinnati was then able to pick up three singles points at the bottom half of the lineup, before Cleveland State earned wins at the top three spots.

All three wins for the Vikings came as three-set decisions, including a 6-1, 6-7(7), 1-0(6) victory from Oihane Vicario at No. 1 singles.

Tereze Vevere picked up her team-leading 15th singles win of the year at the No. 3 spot then, posting a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 victory.

Cleveland State's final singles point on the day came from Bethany Yauch at the No. 2 spot, as she earned a 6-1, 3-6, 1-0(4) victory to mark her 14th singles win of the season.

The Vikings will return to action next weekend, traveling to Buffalo on Friday, February 24 and St. Bonaventure on Saturday, February 25.
