Cleveland State Men's Swimming & Diving Honor 10 Seniors Against Oakland

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State lost to Oakland 158.5-141.5 on Senior Day inside the Busbey Natatorium. During the meet, the Vikings honored their ten seniors; Timothy Kubacki, Dominik Niedzialek, Trevor Mahoney, Jacob Cole, Daniel Frederick, Austin Harper, Jack Krusinski, Bob Lenart, Griffin Manning, and CJ Levand.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Cleveland State won both diving events on the night with Mahoney in 3-meter diving (267.00) and Faulisi in 1-meter diving (280.20).
  • The 200-yard medley relay team of Thomas, Krusinski, Fick, and Johnston finished as the runner-up to open the meet, clocking a 1:31.21.
  • The Vikings finished first and second in the 1000-yard freestyle with Nester (9:29.65) and Jake Taulbee (9:38.08).
  • In the 100-yard backstroke, the Green and White went 2-3-4 with Kubacki (49.42), Niedzialek (49.75), and Thomas (50.85).
  • Krusinski (55.99) placed second and Manning (56.62) took third in the 100-yard breaststroke.
  • Fick (1:50.16) edged teammate, Johnston (1:50.27) in the 200-yard butterfly to win the event.
  • Johnston sprinted to a runner-up finish in the 100-yard freestyle, touching in 45.20.
  • Cleveland State grabbed the second through fourth spots in the 200-yard backstroke with Kubacki (1:47.34), Niedzialek (1:49.69), and Nester (1:51.26)
  • In the 200-yard breaststroke, Krusinski won with a 2:04.73, and Manning placed third with a 2:07.33.
  • Fick was the runner-up in the 100-yard butterfly, sprinting to a time of 49.33.
  • Kubacki won the final individual race of the evening, the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:51.56.
  • The Vikings capped off senior night in style by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay with Thomas, Eberhardt, Merchbaker, and Johnston with a time of 1:22.41.

Cleveland State will swim for the final time before the Horizon League Championships tomorrow in Columbus, Ohio against Ohio State. The dual is set to start at noon.
