CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State defeated Oberlin, 199-34, and Findlay, 136-95 on Friday evening at the Busbey Natatorium. The Vikings had five individual wins and one relay victory.

WINNERS

• Trevor Mahoney in 1-meter diving (278.35) and 3-meter diving (307.40)
• Bob Fick in the 100-yard butterfly (49.36).
• Kenny Thomas in the 100-yard backstroke (50.83).
• Dominik Niedzialek in the 500-yard freestyle (4:39.71).
• Dominik Niedzialek, Timothy Kubacki, Connor Green, Spencer Tussing in the 800-yard freestyle relay (6:50.05).

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Mahoney won both diving events on the evening scoring 278.35 in 1-meter and 307.40 in 3-meter.
• Fick won the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 49.36, while teammate, Paddy Johnston, placed third with a time of 50.18.
• Thomas (50.83) edged out teammate, Josh Merchbaker (51.89) in the 100-yard backstroke for the victory.
• In the 500-yard freestyle, Niedzialek outlasted his opponents for the win, finishing with a time of 4:39.71. Connor Green (4:45.55) and Quinn DeGraaf claimed the third-and-fourth spots in the event.
• The Vikings ended the evening with a first-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay with the team of Niedzialek, Kubacki, Green, and Tussing, clocking a 6:50.05.
• Cleveland State started the swimming portion off with a second-place finish in the 200-medley relay as Niedzialek, Manning, Johnston, Eberhardt clocked a 1:32.99.
• In the first individual race of the evening, Jake Taulbee was the runner-up in the 1650-freestyle with a time of 16:32.04.
• Cleveland State went second-and-third in the 200-yard freestyle with Nathen Eberhardt (1:40.98) and Spencer Tussing (1:41.04).
• In the 50-yard freestyle sprint, the Green and White took second through fourth with Johnston (20.95), Thomas (21.17), and Merchbaker (21.24).
• For the second straight race, the Vikings claimed the same finishing spots in the 400-yard IM with Kubacki (4:02.54), Reno James (4:05.79), and Jackson Nester (4:05.82).
• It was another second through fourth finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with Krusinski (55.70), Manning (57.33), and Blake Fry (59.14)

• Paddy Johnston in the 50-yard freestyle (20.95).
• Josh Merchbaker in the 50-yard freestyle (21.24), 100-yard backstroke (51.89).

• Spencer Tussing in the 100-yard freestyle (47.05).
• Connor Green in the 500-yard freestyle (4:45.55).
• Quinn DeGraaf in the 500-yard freestyle (4:45.87).

"Today was a great day to compete with all three divisions of the NCAA. Oberlin is near and dear to my heart, as that is where my personal coaching career began. Findlay brought amazing competitiveness as they were seeking national cuts. We competed tired but showed grit and heart. Our next step is fine-tuning and resting for Magnus Cup, where we will truly shine and make a statement."
