Vikings Earn 6-1 Victory At St. Bonaventure

ST. BONAVENTURE, NY – The Cleveland State women's tennis team got back in the win column Saturday, picking up a 6-1 victory at St. Bonaventure to open the weekend.

The Match
The Vikings were able to earn the early 1-0 advantage after doubles Saturday, as they picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Cleveland State's No. 2 team of Kateryna Avram and Blanche Lenoan earned a 6-4 victory, while Gaby Schoenberg and Siân Payne posted a 7-5 win at the No. 3 spot.

St. Bonaventure's lone point on the day came at No. 6 singles, as they earned a default win to tie the match at 1-1 early on.

Payne was able to quickly give the Vikings a 2-1 advantage with a win at No. 4 singles though, as she posted a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Emily Stanley.

Cleveland State gained a 3-1 lead following a win at the top of the lineup from Klara Mrcela then, as she battled for a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Penelope Abreu.

Lenoan clinched the match for the Vikings at the No. 3 spot, picking up a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 win against Andrea Roque, putting the Vikings at 7-3 overall this season.

The Vikings were then able to pick up wins on the final two singles courts, as Avram earned a 7-6(3), 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot and Gaby Schoenberg posted a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles.
