Vikings Fall Short at UIC

CHICAGO, ILL. - The Cleveland State men and women's swimming and diving team swam against UIC on Saturday evening at the Flames Natatorium.

The men fell to UIC 180-120 as the women also lost 173-116.

For the women, Jamie VanDewerker won the Vikings first event in the 100-yard backstroke with a finishing time of 1:00.28. Jill Rothgery won the 100-yard butterfly in a tight race with a time of 1:01.77 just beating Cleveland State's Adriana Cannon by .01 and Meghan Miller by .05. Samantha Sposet won the 3-meter diving with a score of 242.18. 

The men had a notable day as Philipp Sikatzki won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.91 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.68.  Philipp won his third event of the day in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.36. Danny Roberts won the 1-meter diving with a final score of 307.05. 

The Vikings will be back in the pool Saturday afternoon (Feb. 7) as they visit Notre Dame in Southbend. Events will begin at 12 p.m.
