MUNCIE, Ind. - After dropping the doubles point and the first singles match, the Cleveland State women's tennis team came from behind to earn a 5-2 victory at Ball State Friday evening, led by Mengdi Liu who claimed the clinching point for the Vikings.

"Today was a total team effort and it was one of the best matches I have ever been a part of," assistant coach Jay Tee said. "We came back from big deficits in almost every match and got a huge win over a good MAC team that will hopefully propel us for the rest of the weekend."

Liu, who captured her first win of the spring season against Ball State, claimed a 6-7 (7-5), 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles to seal the win for the Vikings.

The sophomore duo of Alex Power and Nicole Janek had a great outing for Cleveland State as they each won their singles match and earned an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Playing at No. 4 singles, Power earned a 6-4, 6-3 win over Sarah Hebble, while Janek posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 singles over Kylee Johnson.

Catrine Bjerrehus was the final Viking to post a win against Ball State, capturing her first singles win since the IPFW match earlier this season. Bjerrehus earned a 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (7-2) win over Kristel Sanders at No. 2 singles.

"Catrine had a huge win for us today, she really played like a senior and she led the team with her effort and attitude on the court," Tee said.

The Vikings will now return home to host Toledo and Case on Sunday (Feb. 19). The Toledo match will begin at 2:00 p.m. with the Case match following at 7:00 p.m.
