Vikings Open Fall Season At Louisville Invitational

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Cleveland State men's tennis team opened the 2011 fall season on Friday at the Louisville Invitational, as Nolan Marks and Ben Shklyar each reached the quarterfinals of the Flight B Singles bracket.

"We had a good day today as a team, we know what we need to work on going forward and we will be prepared for the rest of the invitational," assistant coach Jay Tee said. "Nolan and Ben were able to reach the quarterfinals of their flight, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they do tomorrow, along with our doubles teams that advanced."

Marks, who had a bye in the first round, earned a 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 win in the second round to advance to the quarterfinals, while Shklyar won his first round match, 6-7 (7-4), 6-3, 6-2 and his second round match 6-3, 6-2.

Matt Ford and Yannick Goossens also won their first round matches, while the doubles teams of Goossens / Ali Shabib (Fight A Doubles) and Matt Kuelker / Jorg Van Der Vloet (Flight B Doubles) won their respective first round doubles matches.

The Vikings will continue action at the Louisville Invitational on Saturday, September 17.
