WESTLAKE, Ohio - Cleveland State won all three doubles matches and five of the six singles contests en route to a 6-1 win over Niagara on Saturday night at the Paramount Tennis Club.
The win evens CSU's mark at 2-2 this season.
"This was a really good team win for us," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "Everyone who played tonight contributed to the win and that is always nice to see. It's nice to be able to get back to .500 for the season and I think that the team is playing much better and improving every time we take the court."
Senior Rob Fox, playing No. 1 singles for the first time in his career, earned a 7-5, 6-2 win over Matthew Kane. Fox also teamed with John Haley for an 8-1 win at the top doubles spot.
"Rob played a great match at number one singles," Etzkin said. "He is playing at a high level and has now played all six singles spots and all three doubles positions during his career."
Matt Kuelker (No. 2), Chris Klepatz (No. 3), Haley (No. 4) and Matt Ford (No. 5) also won in straight sets in their singles matches.
The Vikings have a quick turnaround, hosting St. Bonaventure for an 11:00 a.m. match on Sunday (Feb. 6) at the Paramount Tennis Club.
