BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Cleveland State women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at Bowling Green on Friday night.

CSU fell to 1-2 with the setback.

"Coming into this match, I thought it would have been a much tighter match than the final score indicates," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "I thought we had some very good rallies tonight, but we just didn't get the points when needed.

"We have a very young team and it's matches like these that we have to use to get better as a team. These are the types of teams that we have to beat if we want to achieve our goals and be successful in the league as the season goes on."

BGSU swept the three doubles matches and then won five of the six singles contests in straight sets to earn the win.

Freshman Kara Sherwood dropped her match at No. 2 singles, 5-7, 6-4, 10-5, pushing her match to three sets.

"I thought Kara did a nice job of battling and had some chances to win her match," Etzkin said.

The Vikings have little time to rest as CSU will host IPFW on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. at the Paramount Tennis Club in Westlake.

"We will have another tough match against IPFW tomorrow night," Etzkin said. "They are a much improved team and have some good wins already this year so we will have to be at our best in both singles and doubles."
