The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team took on Canisius Friday, October 31, 2008. After the water had settled the men had swept the nine individual events on their way to a 143-73 victory.
"We experimented with the line-up but still were able to record impressive times," head coach Wally Morton said. " We were led by Mark deSwardt who won each of his individual events as well as Matt DiMasso who won both of his diving events."
Mark deSwardt led the Vikings started winning with 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:32:87, which is seventh fastest time in CSU history. He went onto win the 200 free posting a time of 1:44:27 and the 500 free with a time of 4:36:79.
Other winners include Nedim Nisic (200IM), Jakub Dobies (100 Backstroke), Todd Winchell (100 Yard Butterfly) and Stephen Grove (100 free).
Runner up finishes went to Volkmar Baur in the 1000 freestyle (10:39:02) and to Colin Hanner and Keith Everhart in the 200 freestyle.
Matt DiMasso took first place in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 252.90.
"We swam very relaxed preparing for a tough challenge against St. Bonaventure tomorrow."
The Vikings are back in action Saturday, November 1 as they travel to St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
