OXFORD, Ohio - Day One of the Miami Invite was a good one for the Vikings, as sophomore Todd Winchell's split in the 800 yard free relay lead the team to a fourth overall finish in the event.

"I thought coming off the long trip we got off to a good start," head coach Wally Morton said.

Winchell managed an impressive 1:49.90 split in the 800 free relay, which was crucial in helping the relay team finish fifth with a time of 6:51.21 in a competitive field.

However, placing and scoring points for this invite are not the true measure of success for this competition, as Coach Morton noted."We aren't going to be too concerned with places this weekend, we are hoping to post some good times, and if we do, we will be happy with that."

The Viking swimmers are back in action tomorrow as they head into Day 2 of the Miami Invite down at the Gross Center in Oxford.
