COLUMBUS, Ohio - Cleveland State's Jakub Dobies claimed a win in the 100 breaststroke, but 15th-ranked Ohio State earned a 147-82 victory over the Vikings in nonconference action on Tuesday night at McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion.
"We had some very good swims, but Ohio State went at us hard tonight," head coach Wally Morton said. "This is one of the deepest and most talented Ohio State teams that I have seen in many years. It was an overall great experience for us to swim against one of the top programs in the country.
"This was our fourth meet in the last 12 days and I think it showed," Morton continued. "We were off a little bit and are going to use the next couple of days to rest and regroup."
Dobies earned a win in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 56.45, but finished fifth in the 200 freestyle as he swam a 1:42.76. It was the first time in his CSU career that Dobies did not win an event he competed in.
Dobies was also part of the 200 medley relay team which claimed runner-up honors with a seasonal-best time of 1:32.61. Todd Winchell, Stephen Grove and Marko Milenkovic were also part of the squad.
Grove also finished second in the 50 free with a lifetime best time of 21.25, while Winchell tallied a third place finish in the 100 butterfly (50.79).
Dan Baiko finished fourth on the 3-meter board, despite posting a personal best score of 352.65.
The Vikings will be out of competitive action until they travel to the Miami (OH) Invitational from Nov. 29 - Dec. 1
