SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Cleveland State won six events, but it wasn't enough as the Vikings fell at Notre Dame, 171-124, in nonconference swim action on Friday night at the Rolfs Aquatic Center.

"The meet was more competitive than the final score indicated," head coach Wally Morton said. "Overall, I am very pleased with how the meet went and I am proud of how we swam. We came right in with a much smaller squad and didn't back off of any of our swims."

Jakub Dobies led CSU's charge as he claimed wins in the 100 breast (56.90) and 200 breast (2:06.60). Dobies was also the leadoff of CSU's winning 200 freestyle relay team, which included Todd Winchell, Mike Marsico and Stephen Grove.

The Vikings were also highly successful in the 100 butterfly as they took the top three spots. Winchell won the event with a time of 50.16 and was closely followed by teammates Grove (50.83) and Nedim Nisic (50.92).

"Those three had outstanding swims," Morton said. "To get the top three times in that event was quite an accomplishment."

Marko Milenkovic and Dave Duecker were CSU's final winners as they claimed the 100 freestyle (47.51) and 200 IM (1:56.91), respectively.

The Vikings will return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20, when they travel to Ohio State for a 5:00 p.m. match.
