OXFORD, Ohio - The Cleveland State men's swimming and diving team dropped its first dual meet of the season as Miami (OH) handed the Vikings a 132-106 setback on Saturday afternoon at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.
"Overall, it was a good meet for us with a lot of close races," head coach Wally Morton said. "I think the difference in the meet was that they won the close races and the depth that they have. They were able to touch us out on several of those races.
"We are disappointed that we didn't win today, but we have a lot of respect for a good Miami (OH) program," Morton continued. "We recorded a number of top times today and I am proud of the effort and enthusiasm that we displayed today, but we still have a long way to go to get to where we want to be."
Jakub Dobies led the Viking efforts this afternoon as he captured the 200 freestyle (1:42.14), the 100 freestyle (45.82) and the 200 breaststroke (2:07.01). His time in the 100 freestyle is the top time in the Horizon League this season.
"Jakub had three outstanding races for us today," Morton said.
Marko Milenkovic earned a win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:57.04, while Zvonimir Androic claimed the 200 backstroke as he posted a time of 1:54.00.
In addition, the 400 medley relay team of Androic, Dobies, Stephen Grove and Nedim Nisic tallied a win as the group registered a time of 3:29.47.
CSU will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts the City College Meet at 3:00 p.m. in Busbey Natatorium. The field includes CSU, Gannon and Baldwin Wallace.
