Loretto, Pa. Frances Carrion, Jen MacLauchlan, and Erin Green all had good meets for the Vikings, but that was not enough as the CSU women's swim team fell to Saint Francis 115-84 Saturday (Oct. 20) at the Stokes Auditorium on the Campus of Saint Francis University. The Vikings fall to 0-2 this season.

"I thought the team prepared well for the meet," head coach Wally Morton said. "The women had great enthusiasm and pulled together."

Frances Carrion had her personal best this season in the 500 free as she finished first with a time of 5:26.07. Carrion also finished second in the 1000 free (11:07.53).

"I thought Frances swam her heart out," Morton said. "She really did an outstanding job of swimming in a difficult place to swim."

Jen MacLauchlan had a good meet for the Vikings as she finished first in the 100 yard backstroke (1:01.18).

"Jennifer has been working hard, trying to improve everyday," Morton said. "I am pleased with her progress."

Freshman Erin Green finished second in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:13.17), second in the 500 freestyle (5:30.78), and fourth in the 200 yard freestyle (2:06.96).

Junior Kristine Bunker finished second in the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.94), third in the 200 yard IM (2:20.24).

The Viking relay teams finished first and second in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The relay team "A" of Jen MacLauchlan, Sandra Bunker, Frances Carrion, and Kristine Bunker finished first (1:45.29), while relay team "B" of Diana Mruk, Kristina Nagy, Melissa Heiss, and Cayce Calvi finished second (1:54.48).

The relay team of Jen MacLauchlan, Deanna Raedel, Katie Bellew, and Lesley Jones finished third in the 200 yard medley relay.

"Saint Francis is a tough place to swim on the road," Morton said. "It was homecoming and the Red Flash fans really showed their support for their swimmers.

"We are really looking forward to coming home and going against the defending conference champions (Green Bay)," Morton said. "It will be a great challenge for the women."

The Vikings are home next Saturday (Oct. 20) to take on the Phoenix at 12:00 p.m. at Busbey Natatorium.
