MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Cleveland State women's tennis team earned its second straight sweep against a Horizon League opponent, picking up a 7-0 win at Milwaukee on Sunday afternoon.
The Vikings improved to 7-9 overall and 2-0 in the league.
"Our one doubles came out well tonight and were able to get us a quick win," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "They are playing like a No. 1 doubles team should and our No. 2 team was able to pull away at the end and secure the doubles point for us.
"In singles, we really started clicking as a team. We played some good, crisp tennis all the way up and down the lineup and I am hoping that our tough early season schedule and difficult training is starting to pay off. This was a good win against a tough league opponent and we are excited to be coming home for two matches next weekend."
"Our doubles play continues to improve every time we take the court," Etzkin said. "We are starting to play much better at each position and even though our No. 3 team couldn't come away with a win today, I was happy with the way they battled and played today."
The Vikings went on to win all six singles matches, including four in straight sets and one by default at No. 5.
"Milwaukee is a much improved team and it is nice to be able to get out of there with a win," Etzkin said.
The Vikings are back at home on Saturday (April 2) when CSU hosts Valparaiso at 10:00 a.m.
