CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland State men's tennis senior Nico Mostardi will close out his fall campaign this week, participating in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship in Newport Beach, Calif. Wednesday, November 6 through Sunday, November 10.
Oracle ITA National Fall Championship
Mostardi earned his spot in the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship by virtue of a Wildcard Qualifier, and becomes the first-ever Viking to appear in the year-end tournament. Mostardi will be part of a 64-player singles draw, joining some of the best players in the nation from all five divisions.
So Far This Fall…
Mostardi has posted a 6-4 singles record, appearing in the Notre Dame Invitational (All-Tournament Team), Oracle ITA Masters (Singles Main Draw 2nd Round, Mixed Doubles Main Draw 2nd Round), ITA All-American Championship (Qualifying Draw 2nd Round), and ITA Midwest Regional (Singles Main Draw 2nd Round, Doubles Main Draw Quarterfinals).
Mostardi Notches Program's Highest Ranked Singles Win
In the first round of the Oracle ITA Masters earlier this season, Mostardi posted a 7-5, 7-5 victory over 44th ranked Sven Lah of Baylor, marking the highest ranked singles win in program history. Mostardi earned his second straight appearance in the Oracle ITA Masters by virtue of being named the 2019 Horizon League Player of the Year, earning the distinction for the second straight season.
CSU Singles Wins List
Entering the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship, Mostardi ranks seventh on the CSU Singles Wins List with 76 career victories. Earlier this season, Mostardi became the seventh Viking all-time to reach the 75-win milestone, and is just four wins shy of moving into sixth place on the CSU Singles Wins List.
