INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – After helping the Cleveland State men's tennis team to a pair of road wins last weekend, the duo of Clark Bilinovich and William Malm has been named the Horizon League Doubles Team of the Week. This marks the third time that the Vikings have been honored with Doubles Team of the Week accolades this year – marking a season-high among all league schools.
Last time out, Bilinovich and Malm helped the Vikings pick up a pair of 6-1 wins at Northern Kentucky and Wright State, as Cleveland State remained perfect in Horizon League play. Entering this weekend's matches, the Vikings own a 15-7 overall record and a 4-0 mark in #HLMTEN action.
"Clark and William haven't been playing as a doubles team a lot this year, but they keep improving week after week, and they were finally able to put everything together last weekend to get some quality wins for us. The combination of Clark's serve and William putting away balls at the net was fun to watch the last two matches," head coach Brian Etzkin said. "We have had so many doubles options this year, and when you have different combinations that you can put on the court, it is fun to see how they develop over time. Hopefully we will be able to continue this momentum this weekend and close out the regular season strong."
The duo went 2-0 at No. 3 doubles on the weekend, picking up a 6-4 win against the Norse and a 6-3 win against the Raiders. The Vikings were able to claim the doubles point in both matches, and have now earned the early 1-0 lead in five of the last six contests.
Bilinovich and Malm, who have only been doubles partners since the start of league play, marked their first wins together with the victories at NKU and WSU last weekend.
The Vikings will close out regular season play at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion this weekend, hosting IUPUI (Friday, April 19) and UIC (Saturday, April 20) with the chance to post their fourth perfect #HLMTEN season under head coach Brian Etzkin.
