CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Horizon League announced its 2019 Spring Academic Honor Roll Friday afternoon, with 98 Cleveland State University student-athletes earning a spot on the list.
Women's swimming and diving led all league teams at Cleveland State with 17 total honorees, while women's soccer had 16 honorees and men's swimming and diving had 14 members named to the spring honor roll. The 14 honorees from the CSU men's swimming and diving team marked a men's swimming and diving league-high, while the 16 honorees from women's soccer was tied for the highest total among women's soccer programs.
Four Vikings honored maintained a 4.0 cumulative grade point average through the spring semester—sophomores Sydney Bajusz (softball), Anna Brandt (cross country/track & field) and Erica Henrichsen (women's swim & dive), and senior Michaela Bargardi (women's swim & dive).
Candidates for the Honor Roll must meet three criteria in order to qualify: 1) participation in at least one of the League's 19 sports during the most recent (or current) season; 2) completion of three semesters as a full-time student at the same member institution; and 3) a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale)
In addition, a total of 29 student-athletes from Cleveland State's non-Horizon League sports met this criteria—24 lacrosse players, three wrestlers and two women's fencers.
