A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics...

Cross Country
- The Vikings will have a week off from competition, returning to the 6K course for the NCAA Regional meet on Friday, November 9.
- Last time out, Cleveland State placed eighth at the 2018 #HLXC Championship, led by sophomore Anna Brandt who finished third individually.
- Brandt's third place finish marked the highest individual finish in program history, while her 6K time of 21:43 set a Cleveland State record. Brandt was named First Team All-Horizon League for the second straight season.

Men's Soccer
- Cleveland State (4-8-2, 1-4-2 HL) will close its season this Friday, November 2, at Detroit Mercy.
- The Vikings fell to Oakland, 4-2, in their home finale this past weekend.
- Gabriel Pewu and Gianluca DiFranco scored goals in the setback.

Women's Soccer
- The Vikings (10-6-1, 6-2-1) are set to enter the 2018 #HLWSOC Tournament as the No. 2 seed, and will begin their quest for a Horizon League title with a semifinal contest on Thursday, November 1.
- Cleveland State's second place finish marks the highest finish in program history, while Thursday's match will mark the first time that the Vikings will make an appearance in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals.
- Last time out, Cleveland State finished the regular season with a 3-0 loss at Regular Season Champion Milwaukee.

Volleyball
- Cleveland State (16-8, 10-2) will split its time at home and on the road this week, traveling to IUPUI for a midweek match on Wednesday, October 31, before hosting Milwaukee for Senior Day on Sunday, November 4.
- Last time out, the Vikings moved into a tie for first place in the #HLVB standings after picking up a 3-2 victory over UIC and a 3-0 sweep against Green Bay. 
- Sara Skeens averaged 4.12 kills per set on the weekend, while Rachael Dohar averaged 5.25 digs and Hannah Greene averaged 1.62 blocks per set.

Men's Tennis
- The Vikings will be back in action at their final fall tournament this weekend, hosting the third annual Viking Invitational (Friday, November 2 - Sunday, November 4) at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
- Entering the weekend, Matthew Terry owns a team-best 10-4 singles record this season, while Nico Mostardi is just one win shy of notching 50 wins for his career.
- Mostardi is the two-time defending singles champion at the Viking Invitational, while Mostardi and Terry picked up the doubles title last year.

Women's Tennis
- Cleveland State will close out its fall season this weekend, participating in the WMU Super Challenge Friday, November 2 - Sunday, November 4.
- Entering the weekend, Kateryna Avram owns a team-best 5-4 singles record, while Gaby Schoenberg stands at 4-5 this season.
- Senior Isabella Spindler enters the WMU Super Challenge just five wins shy of notching 50 for her career, and would become the 15th Viking all-time to reach 50 career singles wins.

Men's Basketball
- Cleveland State opens the season Tuesday, October 30, by welcoming Ohio Valley for an exhibition at 7:00 p.m.
- The Vikings were tabbed seventh in the Horizon League's preseason poll while sophomore Tyree Appleby was named Preseason All-League First Team.

Women's Basketball
- The Vikings will begin the 2018-19 season on Thursday, November 1, hosting Ursuline in an exhibition contest at 7:00 p.m.
- Cleveland State is under the direction of first year head coach Chris Kielsmeier, and returns six letterwinners from last season's team.

Fencing
- Cleveland State resumes action this weekend by competing in the Case Western Duals Saturday, November 3.

Men's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State will contest its first road dual of the season this Saturday, November 3, at Miami (Ohio).
- The Vikings dominated Xavier in their season-opening dual this past weekend, winning all 16 events to claim a 191-90 victory.
- Sophomore Matt Akers surpassed the NCAA qualifying standard in both 1-meter and 3-meter diving while senior Curtis Roden reached the standard in the 1-meter event.

Women's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State will contest its first road dual of the season this Saturday, November 3, at Miami (Ohio).
- The Vikings tied Xavier in dual action last time out, 144-144.
- Sophomore Alana Cartwright won two individual events, the 100 breaststroke and 100 IM, and also swam on a winning relay.

Wrestling
- Cleveland State opens its 2018-19 season this Saturday, November 3, at the Clarion Open.
- Josh Moore will make his collegiate head coaching debut at the season-opening event.
- The Vikings were picked sixth in the Eastern Wrestling League's preseason poll while senior Evan Cheek was tabbed as the favorite at 141 pounds.

Viking of the Week
Anna Brandt, Cross Country
The sophomore placed third at the 2018 Horizon League Championship, marking the highest individual finish in program history. Brandt crossed the 6K finish line in a time of 21:43, marking a Cleveland State record. For her third place finish, Brandt was named to the All-Horizon League First Team.
