A look at what's happening in Cleveland State Athletics...

Men's Soccer
- Cleveland State (4-5-2, 1-2-2 HL) plays its last non-conference contest Tuesday (Oct. 16) at Loyola (Md.) before returning to Horizon League action Saturday (Oct. 20) at Northern Kentucky.
- The Vikings began last week by coming from behind to take down Pittsburgh, 4-3, notching their second win over a Power Five squad in four days.
- CSU then played to a 1-1 draw with League foe IUPUI this past weekend to extend its unbeaten run to four matches.
- Gabriel Pewu scored in both matches this past week for the Vikings and added an assist against Pitt.

Women's Soccer
- The Vikings (9-4-1, 5-0-1) will have a busy stretch this week, traveling to Detroit Mercy for a midweek match on Wednesday, October 17 and hosting Wright State on Sunday, October 21.
- Last time out, Cleveland State gained sole possession of second place in the league standings, with a 2-1 overtime victory against Northern Kentucky.
- The Vikings remained unbeaten in #HLWSOC play behind goals from McKenna Vento and Jenna Prathapa, while Sarah Krause (2) and Dani Sowinski both recorded assists. 
- With her assist on the game-winning goal in overtime, Sowinski set a program record for single-season assists, finishing the contest with eight on the year.

Volleyball
- Cleveland State (12-8, 6-2) will look to get back on the winning track this weekend, traveling to Youngstown State on Friday, October 19 before hosting Oakland on Sunday, October 21.
- Last time out, the Vikings dropped their first #HLVB matches of the season, falling at Green Bay and UIC in a pair of five-set matches.
- After the first round of league play, the Vikings are tied for second in the league standings.

Cross Country
- The Vikings will take this week off from competition, returning to action at the Horizon League Championship on Saturday, October 27. The 2018 #HLXC Championship will take place in Parkside, Wis., with the women's 6K set for 11:00 a.m. EST.
- Last time out, sophomore Anna Brandt won the JennaStrong Fall Classic, posting a program record 5K time of 17:55. 
- Brandt, who now owns the program record on the 5K and 6K courses, helped the Vikings to a third place team finish at the event.

Men's Golf
- Cleveland State will close its fall season this Monday and Tuesday at the Dayton Flyer Invitational.
- The Vikings finished in third place of 11 teams while hosting the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood CC this past week.
- Sophomore Zach Robbins closed the event with rounds of 66-69 to tie for second place at -3 (210).

Women's Golf
- Cleveland State is in the midst of closing its fall season at the MAC Preview as it will play the final 18 holes of the event Monday.
- The Vikings finished in second place of 10 teams this past week at the Shirley Spork Invitational.
- Sophomore Madison Butler tied for third place at +3 (147), her third top-three showing in four events.

Men's Tennis
- Cleveland State will compete at the ITA Midwest Regional this week, which will take place in South Bend, Ind. beginning on Wednesday, October 17.
- Nico Mostardi, Matthew Terry and Luke Phillips all earned a spot in the Singles Main Draw, while Benjamin Slade, Raul Teichmann and Clark Bilinovich will compete in the Singles Qualifying Draw.

Women's Tennis
- Cleveland State will return to action at the West Virginia Invitational and ITA Midwest Regional this weekend, marking the third of four competitive weekends for the Vikings this fall.
- Entering the weekend, Kateryna Avram and Gaby Schoenberg both have a team-high three singles wins on the year, while Isabella Spindler is just five wins shy of notching 50 victories on her career.

Men's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State will take the week off from competition before hosting Xavier on the final weekend of October.
- The Vikings finished in third place of five teams in the Akron Zips Classic this past weekend with 603.5 points.
- Sophomore Dominik Niedzialek won the 200 backstroke and was the runner-up in the 100 back.

Women's Swimming & Diving
- Cleveland State will compete in its first dual of the season this weekend as it hosts Youngstown State Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1:00 p.m.
- The Vikings took sixth place at the Akron Zips Classic this past weekend with 191 points.
- Senior Molly McNamara posted a pair of top-10 individual finishes in the butterfly events.

Viking of the Week
Anna Brandt, Cross Country
The sophomore won the JennaStrong Fall Classic with a Cleveland State 5K record time of 17:55. This marked the first individual win for Brandt, while it was the second straight year that a Viking has won the JennaStrong Fall Classic. Brandt became just the second Viking all-time to break 18-minutes on the 5K course, and now owns both the 5K and 6K program records.
